I went to the clinic this morning to get an ultrasound and blood work. During the ultrasound the doctor noticed one of my follicles looks too active (producing too much estrogen and is larger than the others) to begin hormone shots. If I begin hormone shots when one follicle has too much estrogen, that follicle will hoard the injected hormones. In other words, none of my other follicles will produce eggs, which is the complete opposite of what we’re trying to do here. The doctor told me they would be able to tell more from my blood work. Even though she said it’s not a bad prognosis, I can’t help but feel frustrated. It seems like I’ve been waiting forever to begin this process. Let’s just get on with it already! The nurse said once the results of my blood work come in, they will know for sure how active the follicle is. If it’s in an acceptable range, I can start my shots on Saturday, April 21st. If not, I will have to wait another week.
3:53 pm – The fertility office called and my hormone levels are good. I’m all set to go. Thursday morning I will go to the clinic and learn how to give myself shots. Saturday evening I will give myself the first shot(s). Yikes! I’m going to have to get past the fear of poking myself with a needle…
